Sheriff IDs Gunman, Victim Rushed To Hospital Following Shooting Near Maryland Business

One person was hospitalized overnight, and a suspect is in custody following a shooting outside a Harford County business late on Monday afternoon.

Aberdeen resident resident Justin Matthew Schlotterbeck, 41, has been identified as the alleged gunman who left Bel Air 27-year-old Bel Air native Eric Chi Fonong Igwacho with serious injuries in Abingdon.

According to the Harford County Sheriff's Office, shortly after 4 p.m. on Nov. 4, deputies were called to the 3500 block of Woodsdale Road, where they found Igwacho suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body.

Deputies treated Igwacho at the scene of the shooting before he was taken to a local trauma center for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

With an assist from a K9 and Drone Unit, detectives were able to identify Schlotterbeck as a suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrested charged him with attempted first-degree murder and other offenses.

Schlotterbeck was found inside a vehicle in front of his Aberdeen home, where he was arrested and a disassembled handgun was seized by detectives.

He was taken into custody without incident and held at the Harford County Detention Center without bond as the investigation into the shooting continues.

Investigators say that the motive for the shooting remains under investigation, though it is believed that the two knew each other.

The investigation is ongoing.
